Overview of the Office Calendar
Originally, the Office Calendar (or OC) was created in Excel 2003. Overall, it is a beautiful tool and easy to use. In addition, it lasts a lifetime.
Once we got a hold of a higher version of Excel, we made the upgrade.
Keep in mind, this is an open source tool. Thus, you are free to change different aspects of the tool, to suit your needs. We will probably mention that a few times.
Enterprise version
We also have an enterprise version of the OC. It allows you to clear all your entries on the calendar, with just one click. That makes working the calendar much easier.

Requirements and download
Although the OC is pretty easy to use, you may want to see the requirements and download the tool.
Requirements
To use the OC, you need Excel 2007 or higher.
Download
If you want to download the OC now, then feel free to click on the button below. It is about 56.5 kilobytes in download size, which is fairly small.
Features of the Office Calendar
Here are some key features of the OC tool.
- Control panel
- Language selector
- Over 450 years
- Month selector
- Start day picker
- Color scheme selector
- Show or hide daily lines
- Calendar miniatures
Control panel
So, the control panel allows you to change settings of the OC. In short, you can select a language, year, month, start day, and color scheme. Also, you have the option to show or hide lines for each day.
Language selector
You have the option of selecting from three languages: English, French, and Spanish.
Over 450 years
Remember, we mentioned this OC lasts a lifetime. You would have to be pretty old to outlive it. In any case, you have the option of selecting from 1900 to 2400.
Month selector
Of course, the month selector is straightforward. You have twelve to choose from.
Start day picker
With the start day picker, you can select Monday or Sunday as the first day of the week.
Color scheme selector
Accordingly, you can select from three color schemes: green, blue, or gray. If you are ambitious and want more color, then you can apply your own colors manually.
Show or hide daily lines
Some people prefer to hide daily lines. Therefore, we put in an option to allow you to show or hide these lines.
Calendar miniatures
When we selected December 2400, it actually showed January 2401 as the following month in the calendar miniature. Hence, the OC may last forever.
Using the OC
On the whole, using the OC is pretty easy. Additionally, you are not necessarily stuck with all the features mentioned above. In fact, you have the freedom of making changes as if you are working in any spreadsheet file.
For example, see all the basic entries and formatting we did with the calendar below.
As you see, you can type into any day on the the calendar. For this reason, it is a great tool to enter events, birthdays, and special days.
In the above calendar, see all of the cool stuff we did with the OC. Also, take a look at the notes section.
Again, anything you can do with a spreadsheet file, you can do with the OC.
Basic version
So, we also have a basic version to the Office Calendar. Really, the only main difference is that, the basic version does not have calendar miniatures. However, it has a bigger notes section.
Another difference is, we do not plan to update the basic version. Any updates will occur with the Pro or higher versions.
Printing
The OC prints out nice, with one full calendar page. This also means, you can create a nice full year calendar in no time.
Developer’s note
At the time of development of the Office Calendar, we had big plans to really make it a powerful tool. But, we did not put any code into it. For the most part, the OC is built off of custom sheet formulas and a user friendly design.
Although we have ideas on what you can do, we will leave it up to you to decide. It is all open source. So, enjoy!
